I’m able to see that my computer recognizes that the drive is plugged in, but Windows can’t see it, nor can any data recovery programs for Vista, so Ubuntu is my only other option.

I already have used Recuva, Data Recovery, Recover Files, Undelete Plus, none of them work!
I've tried Recuva but it didn't find any video or music files. A lot were deleted by someone else using my computer so I am very curious on how I can recover these. I know the files aren't COMPLETELY gone–otherwise FEDs couldn't find diaries and such from criminals. But are there ways to restore available to the general public?
Looking for a data recovery company in the state of Virginia for Unix. Need to know who the best are.

What are the best freewares available and is there a built-in software in windows? I'm not sure if system restore can recover deleted files or if it only restores the settings of your system.
Thanks.
I have picture and video files that were deleted a few weeks ago and I’ve been trying to find a very good software that can restore those deleted files. So far, the few softwares that I have downloaded couldn’t restore the videos from my camera because the file size was too large. It would be great if there is a free software though, but I haven’t found a good one yet. Thank You!
I accidentally completely erased everything from my computer. I tried to do a system restore and restored it to factory settings. It is a compaq presario c500. I came across a product called search and recover, but I do not know if this is what I need. I also came across a product online called ontrack data recovery which sounds ok, but costs an arm and a leg. Is there anything out there that can help me get all my important information back?
What I did was a system recovery and not a system restore. Ant ideas?

I bought my pc preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Preminum and it popped up to make a recovery disk. So I bought a DVD+R DL so I'll only need one disk. It took about an hour for it to collect the files and write it but it's been 5 hours now and it's only done 2% of verification. Is this normal or is something wrong?
Help please I have deleted two important files called c:\windows\system\vshinit.vxd and c:\windows\system\crtdll.dll and I cant find a software that will find and recover it for free. Thanks if you can help.

I accidentally didn't save this lab report I was working on, and now its all gone because I accidentally closed it before I saved it. But, when I was typing, I noticed at the bottom it would sometimes say "Saving auto-recovery file" or something like that and I was wondering if I could somehow access that so i won't have to write the whole report again. Please help.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate. My computer has slowed down considerably over the past few weeks and I wanted to completely reformat it. I have Windows recovery disks as well as hard disk partition. I booted the computer with the recovery disks in the DVD drive but the screen said that the disks are not made for this PC and the recovery process cannot be carried out. I am sure the disks were made by this PC only. How do I reformat my PC so that it is back to factory settings?
I accidently deleted or formatted my memory card and lost all of my images. Is there any program than can recover these files on my Mac? Everything thing that I’ve found is for recovering lost files on a PC through Windows.

I got my computer 6 months ago, but I think i got a virus already. I can't start my disk defrag and it won't let me do a system restore anymore as well. I made a couple of recovery disks for windows vista, but not sure how to do it. Can you only do a system recovery once? Is it to early to wipe out my system clean because it's only been 6 months?
What courses should be followed?
Are there certifications?
