i recently used the AVG anti-virus software to scan my computer, it found six threats in the window files and it automatically deleted them. but immediately the computer showed a warning saying that important files have been changed and the computer cannot run properly without them. i didn’t dare to close the computer incase it doesn’t open again, are there any good softwares i can download to recover those files??? or any other easy ways to put those deleted files back? i don’t have the windows XP pack.

hi, my friend’s pc was seriously virus infected. connected my external drive that got infected as well. ran avast (anti virus sw) and it asked if i wanted to delete the infected files (actually folders) i clicked yes, and now all the folders are gone! how to get them back? i’m desperate to get them back - they were back up files.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135 laptop. It has Windows Vista as the operating system. It is two years old.

In March of 2009 it started to act up. It would randomly lose browsing capabilities (firefox and internet explorer) after 30-60 minutes of being browsing. I could still use msn messenger. I think at that time pinging also worked fine. I would get this message: A cable is not plugged into the network adapter "Local Area Connection" or "www…whateverwebsiteIwastryingtoaccess" is not set up to establish a connection on port "World Wide Web service (HTTP)" with this computer. The only way to be able to browse again was to restart the computer.

I have tried disabling all add-ons. I’ve tried having windows repair it. I can’t remember if I’ve tried anything else.

Anyways, it seems to be getting worse, and I’ve also had Windows shut down unexpectantly and Explorer stop responding. Also, now when I lose browsing capabilities pinging the websites I was trying to access often does not work because it takes too long.

I use Zone Alarm and AVG. I have uninstalled and reinstalled AVG and apparently there are no threats or viruses.

Shuting down ZoneAlarm or AVG does not fix the problem.

Should I use the recovery disc? Will it help or should I just buy a new laptop?
I don’t understand the cable thing. Is it talking about an actual cable, because that happens when I’m only using wireless networks. I don’t have to be connected via ethernet or some other means.

—this message:A cable is not plugged into the network adapter.. tells me you need to check connections with router/ modem. could be lose or gone bad try to replace with another cable to see if that is the problem
I last defraged in July, but I tried to do it again the other day. It ran all night and wasn’t done in the morning (over 8 hours). I figured it would never finish so I cancelled it.

Becuase I just found out that they don’t get erased completely.

So I want to get access once again to these files so that I can properly destroy them.

What program should I use?

Is it even possible to recover these files because a lot of people have said that it’s not possible.

Thanks

about 3-4 days ago I deleted some photos from my recycle bin, I want to know how to get those photos back, the photos were imported from my camera and for some reason erased from my camera, and from my computer. I know its got to be on my hard drive, so what could I do. I’m really upset about this, it was hundreds of pictures from my various vacations!
actually they can be recovered. all of the people who say its impossible, LOL, its not its been done before.

I dont know what i did but i tried to put a new operating system. Before it was Window XP Home edition - Service Pack 2.

Then, i tried to install another Window ( Window XP Professional - SP2) and it worked well but my laptop screen (LCD 1280×800 widescreen) is now 1024×768 non-widescreen. it might be due to lack of monitor driver (Radeon-ATI)

So that another way, i need a sony vaio system recovery disc (Sony Vaio is no longer supply it with thier product)

Please help me and tell me what i should do to get my laptop screen back to widescreen and all drivers that need for my Laptop!

My laptop also has wirless LAN but it wont detect it.

Thanks and all the help will help.

I also dont want to spend any money!!

Here’s my story:

I have contacted HP several times by phone and email and nobody did ever gave me a solution. Windows Vista Home Premium –preloaded with my pavillion sg3420la–updated itself and that update damaged and erased the recovery partition. The pavillion was recently bought, december 13, 2008, I’m in Venezuela. I never believed I was going to get such bad customer service from HP. HP told me since my pc is under warranty and its valid they would send me the recovery disks at no cost. UPS was supposed to send the disks. I’m waiting for the disks since january 11. UPS leaved a message on my answering machine with a female voice that can’t be understanded. She gave me a phone number and it’s unclear what is the phone number. I tried to listen to it over 20 times with no avail. UPS doesn’t answer the phones. There aren’t any email addresses in the website for my country. Nobody seems to be there. How come it’s possible that nobody is on UPS at 10 am or 3 pm? It seems UPS it’s making fun of people and it’s disrespectful. The tracking number z5552401 it’s incorrect and I allways get a "not available" message on the UPS website. I’m really dissapointed and upset. I’m no longer waiting for the disk. I will never make a purchase from HP again, unless they give me a free printer or any other gift.

So………did hp customer service or treated you like garbage and seemed to make fun of you? Or did they were unhelpful?

I know that a lot of people have asked this question, but I don’t have any time right now to check them all.
A file with some very important Microsoft works word processor (.wps) files was deleted around a month ago. I regularly clean my recycle bin, and use the disk cleanup utility. Is there any way I can recover these files? They are very important, so I do not care much for prices right now, as long as there is something that can get them back! Please, help me. Thank you in advance.

I don’t have any problems with my system, I just want to improve it’s performance. I lost my HP recovery discs and I’m not in North America where I purchased my laptop. It’s impossible to get any service here for my Pavillion because it is North American and the HP centers here won’t help. Thanks for any help.

i am using windows Vista HP

On the memory stick, there was a word document that was deleted somehow. It was in a folder with one other file. The total size of the folder is 63kb, but the file still in there only takes up around 30kb of memory. The file that was deleted is not hidden and cannot be seen. However, if it is deleted why is it still taking up space. Is there any way to recover it?

My co-worker is running Windows 98 at home, and has accidentally deleted some files from the recycle bin. They are not system files, but pictures and documents. I am pretty sure there is a way to recover them through DOS without buying or downloading software. I don’t think he knows the exact file names. Where can instructions be found, or can anyone provide instructions on how to use and recover files with the /undelete command in DOS? Thank you in advance.
