Can i use my Windows XP recovery disk on more than one computer?
I have a dell desktop computer and an HP laptop. The dell came with a windows reinstall disk, the HP did not. The HP has required a virus and a great deal of spyware. I’d like to format the hard drive, but I want to make sure its ok to reinstall windows on it with that dell windows reinstall disk. I feel like it should, but dell seems to have a way of making things proprietary. Thanks

Hi,
The answer is Yes.
Please note that the dell recovery CD when install into the dell desktop do not need to enter the Windows Cd-key. Whereas in the HP you need to enter a windows cd-key (serial no) please note that you have a original cd-key will do.
Hope that it helps

You can use da CD with many computer’s but not da Serial Number….
No. Recovery disks are OEM only and are locked into one SPECIFIC PC.
"The dell came with a windows reinstall disk, the HP did not."
This is untrue, and it means you haven’t read the HP User Manual yet. It describes how to create your HP Recovery disks in full detail.
