Disk Recovery Service Archives
My computer freezes at the boot screen, the little blue bar just stops moving. I have left it alone like that for about an hour just to be sure it isn’t actually loading.
It will boot in safe mode. And I have tried it without the graphics card.
I have the XP install disk(not the recovery disk that came with the computer, i bought this one after i lost it).
It also wont start with last known configuration that worked mode.
I haven’t recently updated or installed new drivers.
The computer is a e-Machines t3065
I have XP with service pack 2.
I do not have a windows recovery disk and my H: drive is not detected and windows recovery is not running through that, I have tried system restore, but to no avail the explorer.exe starts every 5 seconds and crashes in 1 to 20 seconds. I have tried a registry purge, re-installed windows service pack 3, cured all trojans and viruses and started up in safe mode on the administrator account, the explorer.exe just drops and doesn’t even leave an error message and boots back up. I have killed the process and restarted it again via task manager but it only starts with the same problems. If anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it!

I had to erase everything on my computer because I couldn’t get on the net or run any of my scans or anything. When my boyfriend re did the computer all the folders I made myself were there but the downloads to everything wasn’t there. Usually it asks him to put his disk in that he made but it didn’t this time. When I download service pack 3 or my macafee it says it can not download and i have my automatic updates on but that isn’t working either. Can someone please tell me step by step how to erase everything on my computer by using the recovery disc and what could be wrong!? Thank you!!!
*This is IMPORTANT because I use the magic jack for my phone and it wont work*
Can this problem be fixed without erasing everything on the computer?
Hey, I have a Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2. And I want to reset it to factory settings so that EVERYTHING is gone.. And what I mean is like when you first buy your computer, there is nothing downloaded besides what you start out with… Anyone know how I can do this? Also, my PC didn’t come with recovery disks’, and I was wondering if I can burn the recovery disk onto a CD. If you need any other questions, please Email me.
Thanks,
Danny
How to do a system recovery for Dell Latitude D610 back to the original factory settings running XP?
It’s service pack 3 and doesn’t seem to have a recovery boot option like if you press f11 as I’ve read elsewhere. Is there discs and does anyone have them?
Let me explain. I am not trying to do anything illegal…really. The hd on my HP Pavillion laptop crashed. It was running Vista Home Premium which came with preinstalled. I have no recovery disk. Yes there is a recovery partition on the drive but nothing in it. I own a valid Vista key but cannot find anyone with an actual install disk. So….I fell back on the only thing I had….an old version of XP Pro from a previous employer. The key was valid then, not anymore. As such, windows will not allow me to update to Service Pack 2, which is keeping my laptop from doing many of the functions it is capable of! Suggestions?
I downloaded the Service Pack 3 to upgrade my computer (wasnt my idea..) and after it finished it messed up my computer..The first message stated my Boot.ini file was invalid..I eventunally gained access to my computer and tried to fix it..( at the time i didnt have my recovery disk) Then it failed..and said System32\hal.dll was missing or corrupt and to reinstall the file..I finally got a recovery disk..and I did lots of commands..Including..
Bootfix then cfg..and rebuilding..
System32\hal.dll expanding..
And lots of other various but similar commands..
I created a new patrition..with the recovery..It goes up to load to the LOGO screen..and then the logo disappears and the screen stays on but black..Im not sure what else to try for repairing..Could someone please help me

after using a recovery disk..the same problem occurs. When I get the black Windows screen with the blue bar at the bottom..it goes to a blue screen for half a second (can’t read it)..and then the laptop restarts. I can sometimes get it to load up by selecting ‘last config that worked’ only when it lets me get the selection page…or if I press F12 to select my harddrive so that it will work.
This happens frequently..but sometimes i’m able to start my laptop up with no problem.
I’m considering sending it to the a service provider since it is still under warranty. But if there is a way to fix it myself..i will

Hi right now I am running on windows 7 home premium. I was running on windows vista home premium but then upgraded. I made my recovery disks right after I upgraded to windows 7. I use a Toshiba A505. What happened was I had gotten my laptop back from the best buy service center and everything was working fine, I bought the windows 7 upgrade and installed it before this I made my 2 recovery disks because I used the dual layer but I was not able to make my application and drivers disk. After this I decided to upgrade to windows 7 anyway. I backed up all data and completed the upgrade. After this I though everything was working fine but it wasn’t. I Looked in my event viewer and had 600 error messages. I talked to the lady at bestbuy and she told me to make brand new recovery disks and then use those to downgrade to windows vista then upgrade to windows 7. So I made my disks but when I go to the os restore it asks for the system image which is the last disk and I put that it but it does not recognize it. Please help me
Hi, recently, I formatted my entire computer. It used to be a Windows Vista system, but I used an E-Machines recovery disk to use Windows XP. My computer isn’t an E-Machine computer, but Acer.
After formatting everything and installing XP, everything worked fine, except sound. My speakers used to work but now doesn’t. I have tried using just headphones and that doesn’t work either, which points to a computer problem. Then I looked, there isn’t even a volume control and when I tried to go to volume control a pop up says "no audio mixer is installed" or something to that effect.
I tried going to control panel but under sound and audio device, it says I have no device installed despite me having my speakers connected as usual. I tried going to Device Manager but it has a few things with a yellow question mark beside it such as "Ethernet Controller", and "PCI Device" (?).
Computer: Acer Aspire AST 180
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (from an E-Machines recovery disk)
Speakers: Insignia 2.0
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I have a 2008 compaq laptop, we have 3 different user accounts on it. the administer account says "the user profile service failed the logon, user profile cannot be loaded" ; it is windows vista & you have to create recovery disks when you first access the computer, i didnt know you had to do that; so now we dont have a recovery disk. can anyone tell me what is going on , or what i can do to fix it ?
i recently purchased a HP Pavilion DV3-4038ee laptop and had to format C drive to install 32 bit Win 7 (laptop came with 64bit Win7 HP). Now, after installing Win 7 and downloading the recovery manager from HP, i tried but cannot create a recovery disk for my laptop’s OS and software. Please help me out as the local HP service center is charging an exorbitant fee for sending me a recover disk (which by the way should have been provided with the laptop itself).
It’s very sad to discover their service is sooooo bad.
Please help me… ANYONE.
everything stopped working. i had windows xp. i put in the recovery disk and still nothing worked. for a few days it was down. hated that. a friend came over and installed windows 2000, but things aren’t working right. i can’t stay hooked up to msn. and the color is horrible. it has only 16 whatevers. my pictures are mostly a blur. iv’e tried to download the service packs 1,2 and 3 but that does’t happen either. i have dsl. now win 2000, explorer 6 . is there any way to get better color and to keep the internet going? thank you thank you

RECOVERY DISK AGREEMENT:
The computer features a recovery disk to restore the computer to factory default. This factory default recovers all of the software and games. Just as HP, Sony, or Dell does, they do not give you a ton of DVD’s to restore the computer…they do what’s called a recovery job. This is what I feature. This means instead of 20+ disks to recover the computer if disaster strikes, only one disk is featured instead. This one disk starts the recovery job to reformat the hard drive to restore everything including the software/games. If you don’t like this recovery job then do not bid!
SOFTWARE AGREEMENT:
All of the software and games included on this computer is real and fully updatable/functioning. Nothing fails do to copy protection. Everything is fully registered through Ks Computer for a single user license for this specific PC. Nothing is trial-ware. The serial numbers will show valid licenses. If you don’t like whom everything registered to then do not bid.
PERFORMANCE AGREEMENT:
The computer has been heavily tested to insure everything is in working order, for example the RAM/Motherboard/CPU has no conflicts with each other. The computer is custom and all parts are less then a month old. If you do not like then don’t bid.
RETURN AGREEMENT:
My return policy is as follows. There is no refund unless I sell you false advertisement. For example, Adobe CS4 does not update, Vista does not update, MS Office Enterprise isn’t featured, etc…Once the UPS tracking number shows the computer has arrived to the shipping location, you have 3 business days to return the product. After 3 business days all sales are final. Do not bid if you do not like this policy.
SHIPPING AGREEMENT:
Shipping is in the lower 48 states only. .00 is for shipping anywhere. Well pretty much overnight my computer has crashed and I have been unable to load any pages except black pages and blue pages.
I want to restore the factory settings on my Inspiron 531 Desktop (Vista). I followed the instructions on Dell’s website by pushing F8 at startup, and the Advanced Boot Options did appear, but "Repair your Computer" was not an option on that list. What now?
Incidentally, these are the options I was given:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable low-resolution video (640×480)
Last known Good Configuration (advanced)
Directory Services Restore Mode
Debugging Mode
Disable automatic restart on system failure
Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
Start Windows Normally
I have tried all these buttons but it simply leads to an all black page for hours and does absolutely nothing. I know that I need the recovery disks but I don’t believe my computer ever came with it. After looking on Dell’s Support page I have been unable to download any recovery disks and could not get help.
So does anyone have any Ideas/Advice/Help for my problem?
Before I take it down to my local computer guy, who will charge me an arm and a leg…..
So last week, I got my new HP Pavilion dv4t laptop. I charged it, and when it started up I got this message:
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
and it tells me that i need to install the windows disk and restart the computer and all that…
so i call customer service and they send me the recovery disk for windows 7, which i got yesterday. I put the disk in my laptop today, and I’m still getting the same message. Any ideas what’s wrong? Thank you!
I’m not racist, let’s get that clear, but I have been on the phone for THREE hours telling this moron the same thing over and over again, I have a HP Pavillion Slimline PC and I upgraded to Vista, I decided I didn’t like it, and wanted to go back to Windows XP Media Center Edition, and the recovery partition got deleted by Vista, and the Recovery Disk that I ordered doesn’t work…. They keep tellign me to order recovery disk, I have them in my hands!!! WHY DO COMPANIES BASE THEIR MOST POPULAR NUMBERS (CUSTOMER SERVICE PLACES) OVER SEAS!! I know to save money but your on the phone twice as long, which makes the bills about the same as a shorter call within the US…. AHHH!!
So a few days ago, my Acer Laptop crashed and was giving me a message saying "Media test failure, check cable" and would not load Windows (XP) at all. I tried to reformat the HD…same problem occured. So I had an old HD from another laptop that I tried out to see if the HD was bad. I was able to load, but a day or so later it blue screened saying something about "win32k" (the blue screen rebooted too quickly for me to get the rest). So, assuming my problem with a HD prob, I went out and got a completely brand new HD and attempted to reimage using my recovery disk. When loading windows an error appeared saying something about a IE file being "corrupt and unreadable" and to "run disk check utility." I did and it "truncated" several files, but everything was running fine. I loaded everything again and within a few minutes of installing service pack 3, i got another blue screen. disk check found two "invalid" files. Can someone help please?! I’m desperate! Thanks!

After getting a virus, we had to do a "destructive reboot" of our Windows system using HP recovery console. In essence, what it did was delete all our files (which were backed up before we got the virus… don’t worry) so the virus went away, but left the programs on our computer intact.
Mostly.
Big, expensive programs such as Microsoft Office and Norton Anti virus decided they had just been installed and needed a product key. With Norton it was not a huge problem; we had done this once before and all we had to do was ask a chat technician to help us fix it. They uninstalled it and re-installed it, but they could do that because they had a record of our product purchase. The first time this happened with Office, it simply fixed itself after a few days.
Microsoft Office does not offer very convenient help. For one thing, the only advice I found on their site for our version of Office was this: "We may not offer free support for your Office Program any more, but if you buy Office 2007 here…." ugh.
I need to figure out how to re-activate my Office Suite without buying another product activation key.
I considered uninstalling and re-installing, but I have tried to use my product activation key without doing so and it said the key was invalid. I am afraid if I uninstall it it will simply mean the computer will lose record of our purchase and when I re-install the program the key will have already been used once and won’t work.
Even an email address or other Microsoft contact information that will get me support from them would be helpful. As a last resort we could take it to the place that installed it for us ( a Circuit City) but I think they were closed down last year.
I can not tell you how much I will appreciate answers from people who know what they are talking about. I have searched the web for an answer to this problem for most of the day.
Unfortunately, there is no phone number on our disk case. In fact there is very little on it except a website and a notation saying there is a holographic image embedded in the genuine disks. Thanks for the answer, though! If anyone has their office disk handy I would love to get a phone number.
Ok so heres the deal, I have a friend’s computer that I was trying to fix and I figured it had spyware and viruses and what not, I ran a few scanners and there were viruses and what not and it was all going well, I deleted the viruses and updated Xp to service pack 3, all the while I deleted temp files and things that I didn’t think needed to be there. So the service pack finished installing and I restarted the computer, logged in and I let some things configure and restarted it once more, however this time it came up with an error that something was wrong with the hardware or software and it was not able to boot, I tried every option on the screen and have not been able to reach so much as the login screen, I don’t have the XP disk to wipe the whole hard drive and just reformat it all so I don’t know what to do. Also, there are files on the hard drive now that I would like to be able to recover, but it is most important to just get this computer working right now, someone please help me, my email is dflint12345@yahoo.com, please please help me this is not my computer.
