How do I recover files from a deleted windows xp administrator account?
My sister deleted one of the two administrator accounts that we have on windows xp professional. Since the files are encrypted is it possible for me to take ownership of these files or can i recover them any other way?

Yes,
you can take ownership of these files. but if you cant see security tab in sharing and security section of a folder try this:on a wdinow on Tools menu—>Folder Options—>View —-> uncheck "Use simple file sharing" (last option).
Now you can get a property of your folder and open "sharing and security" —-> security —>Advance—>Owner—> add your current user account in owners list —-> check the "Replace owner on subcontainers …" — > hit OK.
Luck
Go to your hard drive, then Documents and Settings then go to the folder with the name of the account. If that folder’s not there, then they’re gone. You can recover files that have been deleted though. There are programs (RestoreIt is one, I think) that scan your hard drive and bring back deleted information from the ‘ghost’ image that’s left behind. Just do a web search and you should be able to find some programs. Good luck!
Try System Restore (Start in the lower left, then programs, then accessories–system tools–system restore). Go back to a date before the accounts were deleted. I had this problem once & it worked. Later, you might want to run checkdisc to fix system files, but not 1st! If you run it 1st it’ll make things worse. (MyComputer–C: then right click C:–Properties–Tools–Error Checking–then check the fix…square & OK it for running after a reboot, then reboot).
