I think I have 2 Windows XP Home OS in my computer. I need to delete the bad one.
My Windows XP Home would not run after I had loaded a PC game, and I used my CD Recovery disk. During the reload process, the program would not accept the license key saying it is not valid. However, I managed to complete the recovery process. Now, at start-up a DOS display is asking to select one of the same Windows XP Home editions listed. I selected the first one (done by the recovery). My Windows XP works but now I always get a message saying Windows is not genuine and that I must activate it (and I have x-number of days to do it). I think, somehow, the earlier defective Windows was not deleted (license key still active) when the C-drive was reformatted and now I have 2 instances of Windows XP Home in my computer. How do I delete the bad OS, and so I can use my license key again? Or, do I have a different problem?
I got an HP Pavilion a while ago and it messed up this past week, I want all the files off it because I’ve already saved what I needed. However when I do the recovery ALL of my programs of games, etc are still installed with files and they aren’t in add/remove programs. I want my HP Pavilion to ONLY have the files it came with when I first got it. None of the extra programs I installed, etc. When I use the recovery, i gives me those files, but all my games and stuff and are still there. I want it completely reinstalled. Also, when it was reinstalled when I specifically requested NOT to have service pack 3, I got it anyway. So now my disk space in my C drive is over half full without all my documents, saved games, .iso’s, music, etc. Before when I had all of that with my program files it was just barely full, so I think something is a little wrong there? I just want my computer reinstalled without any of my old files I had. Completely new and fresh as if I just bought it.
Thanks!
Dear Friend
I have purchased a Laptop; Brand: SAMSUNG, MODEL: R40
While purchasing, seller provided me 2 CDs. One for driver software and another is captioned as “Samsung Recovery Solution” “Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2”.
I have formatted C drive due to malfunctioning. Now my query, will that Recovery Disc install WinXP as usual?
Appreciate, if you would come back at your earliest.
Regards
Pervez
I brought my hard drive from my old computer and slaved it as the D: drive. XP was already on the C: drive. But, XP crashed and totally locked up. I reloaded XP and it formatted the C: drive. Why did it format the D: drive when I told it C: drive FAT only? Now, how do I recover the data on the D: drive?
where can i download hp a420n windows xp home recovery cds for free?
Recovery partition is still there, however pressing F10 (as it asks me to) does absolutely nothing.
The C drive has since been formatted, but the recovery partition has never been touched.
Ok, I wanted to install a game on my pc, but I didn’t have enough free space on the c drive to do it, and stupid old me went and deleted a bunch of stuff, and came to find out the next day that I needed some of the stuff I deleted, for the pc to actually work. I found out what the problem is, but I can’t afford over 0+/- to fix it. The problem is I need data recovery to fix it. The other thing is, how can I fix it myself, so I don’t have to waste money I don’t have? Thanks for all your help, as I do appreciate it greatly.
BTW, my system originally ran off of windows 95, now it has windows 98 se. I held down the F8 like you said, all it did was make some sort of beeping noise. The moniter reads:
Invalid system disk
Replace the disk, and then press any key
BUT there isn’t even any disk in either the a drive or c drive!
So I am missing a file called config.sys i think. It said to run recovery console, so i opened recovery console, but it’s only detecting the C drive? The main Hard drive that contains windows XP is the I drive, but i can’t get it to detect that. It only detects the C drive, so how do i get the recovery console to detect the I hard drive?
i have the windows Xp service pack 2 CD. and i think its supposed to be able to let me make a backup/recovery disk, but i dont know what exactly im supposed to do to get the recovery disk working. i have all the office stuff already and i think i had a backup thing on my computer ( a toshiba) but i accidently deleted it.. thanks for your help
i have went to the start panel and went to tools but backup is not there..i think i might have deleted it..
i tried the second nt…exe thing..a message came up saying that it couldnt be found..
i actually called toshiba and the lady said that i would actually need to redo my whole hard drive or something of that nature…which means i will lose every thing i have on my computer except C drive stuff i believe…is there not a program out there that lets you just back up your own files, etc?
