I had to erase everything on my computer because I couldn’t get on the net or run any of my scans or anything. When my boyfriend re did the computer all the folders I made myself were there but the downloads to everything wasn’t there. Usually it asks him to put his disk in that he made but it didn’t this time. When I download service pack 3 or my macafee it says it can not download and i have my automatic updates on but that isn’t working either. Can someone please tell me step by step how to erase everything on my computer by using the recovery disc and what could be wrong!? Thank you!!!

hi, my friend’s pc was seriously virus infected. connected my external drive that got infected as well. ran avast (anti virus sw) and it asked if i wanted to delete the infected files (actually folders) i clicked yes, and now all the folders are gone! how to get them back? i’m desperate to get them back - they were back up files.

well i accidentally deleted a few folders full of pics on my PC over the weekend. i deleted them and emptied the "recycle bin" without realizing that there were actually some pics in there that i wanted to keep. anyways long story short.. any easy way to recover them? im no computer wiz and if im gonna have to call the geek squad then forget about it.

I’ve searched everywhere I know to look on my computer for Microsoft Word documents from about a month ago, but it looks like I deleted them from two folders where I had copies. I’m REALLY needing to find these files if possible so I can invoice a client for an editing job. Is this possible in XP, or should I jump back to Windows ME on my desktop model?

For some reason the option in the recycle bin was check to automaticly delete files instead of moving them to the recycle bin. I had a project I was working on in Windows Movie Maker and I was saving the complete movies as the same file name as the move maker projects. So, there were some corrections I had to make to the movie file so I made them and to save the video files as the same name again you have to delete the original ones. Well when I went to delete the original movie files, I click on the wrong folders and deleted half of my movie project files, and instead of going to the recycle bin, they were deleted completely off the computer. So now I can’t go back and save the corrcetions to the movie files. Is there any way to recover the deleted files? I already tried a system restore, but the system restore does’nt recover deleted files.

ok this is what happen. by mistake i format my storage hard drive (wipe out) (slave drive) where I HAD my videos, pictures, software,and other folders. i used some data recovery softwares but no success, I had over 100 videos and family pictures all gone can somebody please HELLLLLPPPPPPP!!!! THANX SSOOOO MUCH!

I inserted my camera memory card into a slot in my computer and was copying files to various folders on my hard drive, and then deleting the files from the memory card as I went along.

I copied two files from one of the memory card folders, but when clicked ‘delete’ to remove just those files from the card I had recently copied to the hard drive, ALL the files in that particular folder vanished.

I know the files are still on the memory card, so my question is ~ how do I recover them?

Windows had trouble starting I tried to start using F11

The machine went through a recovery procedure.

Files were backed up and put in folders I can find.
The desk top is like I bought the computer 4 years ago

I think the programs are saved some how but I don't know how to reinstate what I can without getting out the original disks for the programs I use.

I plan to buy an external hard drive and copy the files I can find before attempting changes
The computer is a gateway
The programs are not available if I go to the start menue
