Let me explain. I am not trying to do anything illegal…really. The hd on my HP Pavillion laptop crashed. It was running Vista Home Premium which came with preinstalled. I have no recovery disk. Yes there is a recovery partition on the drive but nothing in it. I own a valid Vista key but cannot find anyone with an actual install disk. So….I fell back on the only thing I had….an old version of XP Pro from a previous employer. The key was valid then, not anymore. As such, windows will not allow me to update to Service Pack 2, which is keeping my laptop from doing many of the functions it is capable of! Suggestions?

i recently purchased a HP Pavilion DV3-4038ee laptop and had to format C drive to install 32 bit Win 7 (laptop came with 64bit Win7 HP). Now, after installing Win 7 and downloading the recovery manager from HP, i tried but cannot create a recovery disk for my laptop’s OS and software. Please help me out as the local HP service center is charging an exorbitant fee for sending me a recover disk (which by the way should have been provided with the laptop itself).
It’s very sad to discover their service is sooooo bad.
Please help me… ANYONE.

So last week, I got my new HP Pavilion dv4t laptop. I charged it, and when it started up I got this message:

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

and it tells me that i need to install the windows disk and restart the computer and all that…

so i call customer service and they send me the recovery disk for windows 7, which i got yesterday. I put the disk in my laptop today, and I’m still getting the same message. Any ideas what’s wrong? Thank you!

I’m not racist, let’s get that clear, but I have been on the phone for THREE hours telling this moron the same thing over and over again, I have a HP Pavillion Slimline PC and I upgraded to Vista, I decided I didn’t like it, and wanted to go back to Windows XP Media Center Edition, and the recovery partition got deleted by Vista, and the Recovery Disk that I ordered doesn’t work…. They keep tellign me to order recovery disk, I have them in my hands!!! WHY DO COMPANIES BASE THEIR MOST POPULAR NUMBERS (CUSTOMER SERVICE PLACES) OVER SEAS!! I know to save money but your on the phone twice as long, which makes the bills about the same as a shorter call within the US…. AHHH!!

Microsoft Windows XP

After getting a virus, we had to do a "destructive reboot" of our Windows system using HP recovery console. In essence, what it did was delete all our files (which were backed up before we got the virus… don’t worry) so the virus went away, but left the programs on our computer intact.

Mostly.

Big, expensive programs such as Microsoft Office and Norton Anti virus decided they had just been installed and needed a product key. With Norton it was not a huge problem; we had done this once before and all we had to do was ask a chat technician to help us fix it. They uninstalled it and re-installed it, but they could do that because they had a record of our product purchase. The first time this happened with Office, it simply fixed itself after a few days.

Microsoft Office does not offer very convenient help. For one thing, the only advice I found on their site for our version of Office was this: "We may not offer free support for your Office Program any more, but if you buy Office 2007 here…." ugh.
I need to figure out how to re-activate my Office Suite without buying another product activation key.

I considered uninstalling and re-installing, but I have tried to use my product activation key without doing so and it said the key was invalid. I am afraid if I uninstall it it will simply mean the computer will lose record of our purchase and when I re-install the program the key will have already been used once and won’t work.

Even an email address or other Microsoft contact information that will get me support from them would be helpful. As a last resort we could take it to the place that installed it for us ( a Circuit City) but I think they were closed down last year.

I can not tell you how much I will appreciate answers from people who know what they are talking about. I have searched the web for an answer to this problem for most of the day.
Unfortunately, there is no phone number on our disk case. In fact there is very little on it except a website and a notation saying there is a holographic image embedded in the genuine disks. Thanks for the answer, though! If anyone has their office disk handy I would love to get a phone number.

my grandpa recently got an HP Pavilion Elite m9340-f. It didn’t come with a copy of windows vista home premium (service pack 1) or any type of recovery disk. I believe that there is a recovery partition, but how would we retrieve the OS once the hard drive eventually fails? you can’t economically get data off of a failed hard drive, and the PC didn’t come with any OS or recovery disks, so wouldn’t that mean he’d have to buy a new OS once the hard drive eventually fails?

Thank you

I have a Dell inspiron i1545 laptop and i would like to create recovery disk/s the computer is using windows vista home premium Service pack 2 32 bit operating system. I would like to know what program to use to make the recovery disk. I have been looking at almost all the programs on the computer and the only thing that i see is the Backup and Restore application in the Backup and Restore center. Not for creating any sort of recovery disk. Any information is appreciated.

I have another computer A Hp compaq CQ60-615DX Laptop and i already created the recovery disks for the computer it only took 3 since i used a DVD+R so it took less disks to create. The thing is there was a program for me to use but i can’t find a Recovery Program for my dell computer in the list applications again any information is highly appreciated.

i called my service company and told me i have to insert a disc of hp. anyone know where i can find it? is there any other way to fix this?

I bought compaq computer model# sr2050nx, when I creating system recovery discs, need two dvd discs to copy whole thing, when I copy the first disc is ok, and then copy the second disc, get error message, need the other disc, so I take out the second disc, and then put the other new empty disc to continues to copy, after copy complete, I want to try recovery disc is work or not, the first disc is empty no any data in the first disc, but second one have data, so if the computer have any problem, the system recovery disc is not work, I want to re-copy system recovery discs, but we have message say a set of recovery discs has been created for this pc only one set is allowed per pc. who can help me how to re-copy system recovery discs, we try to call hp for support and services, but they told us no any method to copy an other set.

Here’s my story:

I have contacted HP several times by phone and email and nobody did ever gave me a solution. Windows Vista Home Premium –preloaded with my pavillion sg3420la–updated itself and that update damaged and erased the recovery partition. The pavillion was recently bought, december 13, 2008, I’m in Venezuela. I never believed I was going to get such bad customer service from HP. HP told me since my pc is under warranty and its valid they would send me the recovery disks at no cost. UPS was supposed to send the disks. I’m waiting for the disks since january 11. UPS leaved a message on my answering machine with a female voice that can’t be understanded. She gave me a phone number and it’s unclear what is the phone number. I tried to listen to it over 20 times with no avail. UPS doesn’t answer the phones. There aren’t any email addresses in the website for my country. Nobody seems to be there. How come it’s possible that nobody is on UPS at 10 am or 3 pm? It seems UPS it’s making fun of people and it’s disrespectful. The tracking number z5552401 it’s incorrect and I allways get a "not available" message on the UPS website. I’m really dissapointed and upset. I’m no longer waiting for the disk. I will never make a purchase from HP again, unless they give me a free printer or any other gift.

So………did hp customer service or treated you like garbage and seemed to make fun of you? Or did they were unhelpful?

I don’t have any problems with my system, I just want to improve it’s performance. I lost my HP recovery discs and I’m not in North America where I purchased my laptop. It’s impossible to get any service here for my Pavillion because it is North American and the HP centers here won’t help. Thanks for any help.

i gotta 500 GB HDD, i had files about 300 GB. All these files got some how deleted and still my HDD shows 200 GB free space. I don’t know how to recover the lost files. I want to know which is the best recovery software in the market which is trustworthy
i am using windows Vista HP

Im buying a set of windows vista recovery CD’s on Craigslist for , now, will this install the whole OS on my computer? im currently running a HP Comaq dc5100 1GB ram 80GBHDD and have Windows XP on it.

I have a new HP Pavilion A6550in with windows Vista home basic preloaded. Within a few days I began to get start up repair every time I turned on the PC. It also got the blue screen. It says "your computer has been turned off to prevent damage to your computer" and loads all the physical memory on the hard disk. Then the hard disk got problems. Then the service person changed RAM, Hard disk, Motherboard and graphics card one after the other. I reloaded the OS form the recovery disk we created. Even then now I am getting the Blue screen. What could have been the problem and is there any solution?

I had to use HP recovery to rid my computer of a small virus. (It’s a long process but it works.) When it came back on things were wrong.

First: My speakers do not work. I’ve checked device manager and the connection but nothing.

Second, and this is the big one: I have to download Windows XP Service Pack 2, at least I think I do, to re-install my iTunes. But it won’t let me because I don’t seem to have enough space. When I try to click on Disk Cleanup, it won’t open. Sometimes it pops up when I try to download Windows XP SP2, but it won’t load. Someone help!
But you guys, The speakers didn’t come with the comp. Though they did work fine before I activated HP Recovery.

I have a HP Pavilion 514a desktop PC (Australian version) and ages ago when I got it, I attempted to create a set of backup CD’s. This failed at disk 8 / 9 and because HP only allow for you to have one shot at this, I could no longer attempt to create the rest. I want this image back on this PC, as I have been using just normal Windows XP for a while, but prefer HP’s image (the software and stuff). I have deleted the recovery Partition, so there’s no hope in recovering that at all, and I have attempted to use the CD’s, but as soon as it finishes disk #8, it asks me for disk #9, which I evidently don’t have. This is disheartening as I only need that last CD to complete the recovery process. So my question is, can anyone point me to a download link for the recovery CD set for this PC, or could anyone tell me a solution to bypass this final CD check (it would be incomplete, but it’d be better than nothing). Please, I was really looking forward to having this old image on (I THINK it was Windows XP Home, Service Pack 1a, but I’m not sure). Thanks for any help in advance, and sorry for such a long question. Have a nice day guys. =)

I got an HP Pavilion a while ago and it messed up this past week, I want all the files off it because I’ve already saved what I needed. However when I do the recovery ALL of my programs of games, etc are still installed with files and they aren’t in add/remove programs. I want my HP Pavilion to ONLY have the files it came with when I first got it. None of the extra programs I installed, etc. When I use the recovery, i gives me those files, but all my games and stuff and are still there. I want it completely reinstalled. Also, when it was reinstalled when I specifically requested NOT to have service pack 3, I got it anyway. So now my disk space in my C drive is over half full without all my documents, saved games, .iso’s, music, etc. Before when I had all of that with my program files it was just barely full, so I think something is a little wrong there? I just want my computer reinstalled without any of my old files I had. Completely new and fresh as if I just bought it.
Thanks!

My son accidentally ran a backup to the D drive. What are the implications if I delete or uninstall all the data from the HP_RECOVERY D Drive? It’s currently 100% full. Help please.
Thank you.

I have a dell desktop computer and an HP laptop. The dell came with a windows reinstall disk, the HP did not. The HP has required a virus and a great deal of spyware. I’d like to format the hard drive, but I want to make sure its ok to reinstall windows on it with that dell windows reinstall disk. I feel like it should, but dell seems to have a way of making things proprietary. Thanks

where can i download hp a420n windows xp home recovery cds for free?
Recovery partition is still there, however pressing F10 (as it asks me to) does absolutely nothing.

The C drive has since been formatted, but the recovery partition has never been touched.

2 days ago i messed up with partition magic. after restarting my HP dv4-1106 laptop i cant boot my OS (vista). i cant even restore using the HP recovery partition. what i did is FORMAT the whole hardisk including the RECOVERY PARTITION, meaning i have a laptop with 100% free disk space.

is there a way to put back the original HP RECOVERY PARTITION?
if i use the recovery disk (3DVDs) would it restore the HP RECOVERY PARTITION?
can the HP SERVICE CENTER restore the HP RECOVERY partition?

I have a Windows hp laptop and I accidently permanently deleted a file from the Recycle Bin. Is there a way to recover the permanently deleted file? Thanks for your help in advance.
Is there any downloadable programs that support Microsoft?
