After getting a virus, we had to do a "destructive reboot" of our Windows system using HP recovery console. In essence, what it did was delete all our files (which were backed up before we got the virus… don’t worry) so the virus went away, but left the programs on our computer intact.
Mostly.
Big, expensive programs such as Microsoft Office and Norton Anti virus decided they had just been installed and needed a product key. With Norton it was not a huge problem; we had done this once before and all we had to do was ask a chat technician to help us fix it. They uninstalled it and re-installed it, but they could do that because they had a record of our product purchase. The first time this happened with Office, it simply fixed itself after a few days.
Microsoft Office does not offer very convenient help. For one thing, the only advice I found on their site for our version of Office was this: "We may not offer free support for your Office Program any more, but if you buy Office 2007 here…." ugh.
I need to figure out how to re-activate my Office Suite without buying another product activation key.
I considered uninstalling and re-installing, but I have tried to use my product activation key without doing so and it said the key was invalid. I am afraid if I uninstall it it will simply mean the computer will lose record of our purchase and when I re-install the program the key will have already been used once and won’t work.
Even an email address or other Microsoft contact information that will get me support from them would be helpful. As a last resort we could take it to the place that installed it for us ( a Circuit City) but I think they were closed down last year.
I can not tell you how much I will appreciate answers from people who know what they are talking about. I have searched the web for an answer to this problem for most of the day.
Unfortunately, there is no phone number on our disk case. In fact there is very little on it except a website and a notation saying there is a holographic image embedded in the genuine disks. Thanks for the answer, though! If anyone has their office disk handy I would love to get a phone number.
I know that a lot of people have asked this question, but I don’t have any time right now to check them all.
A file with some very important Microsoft works word processor (.wps) files was deleted around a month ago. I regularly clean my recycle bin, and use the disk cleanup utility. Is there any way I can recover these files? They are very important, so I do not care much for prices right now, as long as there is something that can get them back! Please, help me. Thank you in advance.
When I click Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>"My Account">Prevent a
forgotten password an error message pops up that says:
No Drive
Your computer does not have a removable disk drive. A removable medium is
required to use this feature.
I though in order to create a password reset disk all you need is a blank cd
and a cd burner? My computer has that (Compaq Presario V2000). Since this
isnt working, is there another way to create a Password Reset Disk?
Much appreciation if any Answers!
P.S, My computers specs if needed:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Compaq
Presario V2000

I have been having serious issues with my computer, and recently had to do a recovery from my start up disks (luckily I had backed up all my files on DVD about a week earlier) but in trying to update my computer I have had some issues. Microsoft update screen tells me I need to update to service pack 3, but then when my computer restarts, it won’t boot up windows, I have to go in in safe mode and uninstall service pack 3 to get my computer to work again. I have done this several times now. Anyone else have this issue? What am I doing wrong? Do I really need this update?
I updated to Microsoft Service Pack 2, when I came home the next day my computer had restarted and said that there was no hard disk.
I tried the windows xp recovery and it couldn’t find any drives and then I tried to reinstall XP and it said there were no hard drives found!
so i have no computer now
What may have happened and is there a way to get it back?!
I have never ‘opened’ my computer and I live alone so Im sure no one else could have done this.
Dear Friend
I have purchased a Laptop; Brand: SAMSUNG, MODEL: R40
While purchasing, seller provided me 2 CDs. One for driver software and another is captioned as “Samsung Recovery Solution” “Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2”.
I have formatted C drive due to malfunctioning. Now my query, will that Recovery Disc install WinXP as usual?
Appreciate, if you would come back at your earliest.
Regards
Pervez
I had multiple Word-files open in Microsoft Office 2008 on a Mac, and I closed them individually. I saved the ones I needed, and for the last one that I didn’t need I chose "don’t save".
Now it turns out that I really needed the one I didn’t save! It still exists, only in the "old" version - before I worked on it.
Is there any way to restore the changes I made to it?
I am just wondering if there are any free programs online available for download that can recover deleted Microsoft Works documents. My computer’s system malfunctioned, so I had to reboot it, and I would like to be able to retrieve a document I had been working on for a long time. Thank you.

Is there any downloadable programs that support Microsoft?
I’ve searched everywhere I know to look on my computer for Microsoft Word documents from about a month ago, but it looks like I deleted them from two folders where I had copies. I’m REALLY needing to find these files if possible so I can invoice a client for an editing job. Is this possible in XP, or should I jump back to Windows ME on my desktop model?
I got my computer 3 or 4 years ago before that (SP2) upgrade. My computer crashed I needed to reformat/then reinstall, I used my product recovery disk, but it keeps asking me for the "service pack 2 for windows XP home edition" I don’t have it was sent to me via a download, I called my local computer guy, he said I can get one from Microsoft, but he didn’t have the number.
If anyone has an idea of what it is I’m talking about (I’m not quite sure myself) please any help would be greatly apreciated, I need to get it ASAP, I have a temporary computer but only for a few weeks. I’d like to get my other one going again.
I’m not looking to download it off the internet, because I needed it for a computer that is down. In other words I can’t get online to download it. (sorry frustrated)
I just need the phone number of where I can order it.
And if possible advice from someone who has done what I’m trying to do.
