Im buying a set of windows vista recovery CD’s on Craigslist for , now, will this install the whole OS on my computer? im currently running a HP Comaq dc5100 1GB ram 80GBHDD and have Windows XP on it.

I have a HP Pavilion 514a desktop PC (Australian version) and ages ago when I got it, I attempted to create a set of backup CD’s. This failed at disk 8 / 9 and because HP only allow for you to have one shot at this, I could no longer attempt to create the rest. I want this image back on this PC, as I have been using just normal Windows XP for a while, but prefer HP’s image (the software and stuff). I have deleted the recovery Partition, so there’s no hope in recovering that at all, and I have attempted to use the CD’s, but as soon as it finishes disk #8, it asks me for disk #9, which I evidently don’t have. This is disheartening as I only need that last CD to complete the recovery process. So my question is, can anyone point me to a download link for the recovery CD set for this PC, or could anyone tell me a solution to bypass this final CD check (it would be incomplete, but it’d be better than nothing). Please, I was really looking forward to having this old image on (I THINK it was Windows XP Home, Service Pack 1a, but I’m not sure). Thanks for any help in advance, and sorry for such a long question. Have a nice day guys. =)

I just got a used Compaq Evo laptop running windows XP pro. It did NOT come with an OS cd or recovery cd. I do have XP Home recovery CDs for my Sony Vaio, but they dont seem to register with the Compaq.

I attempted to update from the vanilla xp pro to Service Pack 2, but towards the end of the install my computer crashed. Now when I try to boot it says "Non-system disk or disk error."

I do not have a cd in the drive or any usb devices attached. I do not have a floppy drive. I think the SP2 install messed up the Master Boot Record. I think I need to run Recovery Console but I do not have the Boot CD to get into it.

Does anybody have any advice or know where I can acquire an iso image of the windows xp pro boot cd or a bootable recovery console?

Thank you for your response.

I installed windows from a usb drive since my cd rom was not working.
when i use lenovo recovery cd to install windows it automatically installs the recovery feature.

But since i installed it from a pen drive using only the i386 folder i cannot use the lenovo recovery feature.
Please tell me how do I add that feature now without reinstalling windows. and remember my cd-rom is not working

I’m trying to fix my little brothers computer, so im trying to use my windows xp recovery cd but some reason it doesn’t work. I restarted the computer with the cd inside but nothing shows up.
what should i do?

When installing Windows XP (full version) onto my computer, I expected an option to create a Recovery CD to appear on my screen, but I never saw anything, or maybe I missed it. Either way, if in the future I need to do a complete reboot, how would I do it. Where can I get a Recovery CD from?
Thanks in advance to everyone who replies to this message.

my computer is having problems, and i dont know where my Recovery cd is.

Im having problems with my current HD that my current version on XP Home is installed on.
I have a new HD in a box.
I went to Compaq site and saw they offered a recovery disc for my coputer XP service pack 2 for .
My main thing I was going to do is basically burn my important files on a disc, and then trash the old troublesome Hard Drive and get the recovery CD and Recover my system to the new Hard Drive.
Will that work?
Better yet, does everyone understand what Im trying to do?
I may have a worm or something, dont know why the hard drive is acting up, but I dont want to connect the new hard drive up when the old one is in there at the same time.

I have all the drivers backed up on a usb flash drive so would it be okay to use a regular windows vista recovery cd instead of the one that came with my laptop?

I tryed to make a recovery cd but i dont have the Symantec Recovery Disk image file i need to download it but i dont know where to download

I recently bought a used computer and I did not receive all of the software and drivers. I wanted to reformat the hard drive but I wanted to make an emergency backup if I failed to have any essential drivers. Now I know I can slave a drive and copy everything to the new hard drive but that means I have to buy a new hard drive. Besides I already have a 1 GB USB memory stick and I think this method would be really cool to try out. Oh by the way I tried to copy a recovery disk but the CD’s are to small for the system hardware and I don’t have the software to split the recovery CD’s.

I have a macbook with parallels etc, i was wondering could i install windows xp using only a "Windows XP home Recovery CD-Rom" ?? and a parallels or bootcamp ? thanks !

I just bought a new HP computer, Windows Vista. It didn’t come with an Installation/Recovery cd. Does anyone know how to make a recovery cd? I already know how to get the cd key. I just need it for back-up incase something happens.
