I want to create a recovery disk of my windows so that later i can reinstall the windows from recovery disk.
My computer was not running properly so I decided that it was time to use the recovery disk and restore it to original settings. However the disk does not work. It wiped everything off of my laptop and then doesnt let me reinstall anything so my computer wont even start. (I just took the disk out of the box tonight so I know it was damaged from the factory). Unfortunately my computer is a month past warranty so they want to charge me to talk to someone or to spend 0+ to send it in and get diagnosed + additional fee to fix it. No service centers in my state either and I cant figure out how to get it to reboot from the startup menu, its not f8 like normal. please help. thank you
I want to use my recovery disk drive for music, so im planning on deleting everything on it, but if i have recovery disk, will i still be able to recover without the disk drive
I am using an hp pavilion dv2403 tx model notebook since January ;downgrade it to win xp frm preloaded vista. Now my created recovery disk is not working(hp dont provide).I see to their web site that hp do not provide disk free with notebook but provide it in case of error in owners created disk for additional charge. But they give it to only U.S ,Europe and some rich countries. In a poor country like Bangladseh have no available service. They have many customers there but why there is such a discrepancy?
i need to wipe clean my pc, but dont have a recovery disk. Where do i get one?
I have a windows xp laptop. I installed windows 98 onto it (Dont Ask) with an old setup disk I had. I wanted to go back to windows xp and I called up the computer company. When I get the RECOVERY disk for the original version of xp, will it work as the setup disk for it?
I want to return my comp to it’s original state, but I don’t have the Recovery Disk anymore…
And please don’t tell me to just do a System Restore. That’s not what I’m wanting.
Thanks!
I have contacted HP online including the HQ’s in USA and by telephone IN UK (60p) a minute!! The information they keep giving me is totally useless! This being directing me to an online provider to purchase the recovery disk(s) I need for my model however as I keep telling them, my model is not listed? I have again emailed HP HQ’s, however they say all they can do is direct me to the very expensive UK helpline to which I just get the same response, HELP!! My HP laptop details are as follows:- p/n GF773EA…..s/n CND7170TP7 and service number G5055EA…
If anyone can please advise me where I can purchase the recovery disk(s) it would be very much appreciated!
no luck on ebay as such….if I purchase new operating system disks will this do the job? as I obviously want to keep what I have on the laptop?
I guess it helps you to recover from any driver/system failure etc.
My computer asked me to burn a copy of the recovery disk, so I did.
Lets say I uninstall Vista, will I be able to reinstall it using the recovery disk I just burn?
also, is it safe to delete the Recovery partition from my hard drive?
HELP!! No recovery disk and this is a lost windows logon password not a BIOS password. Dont suggest talking to SONY.
I want to make a recovery disk but I don’t know how. HELP, I HAVE A MILLION VIRUSES!
Sorry, i really don’t know much about this stuff and would appreciate some help!
I had a virus on my laptop last year, so i bought vista and installed it. (i didn’t have the recovery disk with me at the time).
Anyway, im having problems again, and i was wondering whether i could use the recovery disk that came with my laptop this time to reinstall vista? …the copy of vista i bought seems to have gone AWOL! Nightmare!

I installed a new hard drive with the assumption that the system recovery disk would install the operating system (windows xp). It doesn’t work and HP doesn’t have them anymore (too out of date) what next? Anyone?
So my computer has officially crashed. I’ve let some family members take a stab at fixing it, both have TONS of knowledge on computers. Well, both say that the only way to fix it at this point would be to get my recovery disk and start all over again.
I’ve searched high and low…but I can’t find my recovery disk. So where can I get another one?! I have a Dell Inspiron. I went to call them, but I don’t have my laptop with me and I don’t know my service tag. Would I need to get a disk from them? Would it just be simpler to just take it to computer shop?
I recently bought a used computer and I did not receive all of the software and drivers. I wanted to reformat the hard drive but I wanted to make an emergency backup if I failed to have any essential drivers. Now I know I can slave a drive and copy everything to the new hard drive but that means I have to buy a new hard drive. Besides I already have a 1 GB USB memory stick and I think this method would be really cool to try out. Oh by the way I tried to copy a recovery disk but the CD’s are to small for the system hardware and I don’t have the software to split the recovery CD’s.
I need to make a recovery disk for my pc. I’m using Windows XP, but I don’t have the Windows XP disc. Now pc’s come with Windows pre-installed from factory. I don’t know the process for making the recovery disc. Or is it easier to make a backup system disc?
Just bought a laptop (ASUS F80Q) with pre-installed Vista Home Basic OS. Included in the package is the ASUS RECOVERY DISK VISTA HOME BASIC. Just curios why Recovery disk is given and not the original VISTA HOME BASIC Disk?
I got my computer 3 or 4 years ago before that (SP2) upgrade. My computer crashed I needed to reformat/then reinstall, I used my product recovery disk, but it keeps asking me for the "service pack 2 for windows XP home edition" I don’t have it was sent to me via a download, I called my local computer guy, he said I can get one from Microsoft, but he didn’t have the number.
If anyone has an idea of what it is I’m talking about (I’m not quite sure myself) please any help would be greatly apreciated, I need to get it ASAP, I have a temporary computer but only for a few weeks. I’d like to get my other one going again.
I’m not looking to download it off the internet, because I needed it for a computer that is down. In other words I can’t get online to download it. (sorry frustrated)
I just need the phone number of where I can order it.
And if possible advice from someone who has done what I’m trying to do.
I do not have a floppy disk drive{ pre-historic, I say }. I need to make a recovery disk onto a cd, But windows backup program only will do it if you have a floppy drive. What will everybody do when the floppy goes th way of the dinosaur? Really stranges that windows does not offer an alternative solution except saving to your harddrive or floppy.
I have Dell laptop and would like to restart it to factory setting but i lost the recovery disk. Is it still possible to reset to factory setting and how? If not..what other options do I have?
My laptop’s hard drive is far too small anymore, and I’d like to install a larger one. I don’t mind formatting the old one or doing a clean installation for everything all over again. I JUST NEED MORE SPACE!!! I have a recovery disk for my laptop that has Windows XP Home and all my other factory settings on it. Will this work okay for a new installation?
