My computer freezes at the boot screen, the little blue bar just stops moving. I have left it alone like that for about an hour just to be sure it isn’t actually loading.
It will boot in safe mode. And I have tried it without the graphics card.
I have the XP install disk(not the recovery disk that came with the computer, i bought this one after i lost it).
It also wont start with last known configuration that worked mode.
I haven’t recently updated or installed new drivers.
The computer is a e-Machines t3065
I have XP with service pack 2.
I do not have a windows recovery disk and my H: drive is not detected and windows recovery is not running through that, I have tried system restore, but to no avail the explorer.exe starts every 5 seconds and crashes in 1 to 20 seconds. I have tried a registry purge, re-installed windows service pack 3, cured all trojans and viruses and started up in safe mode on the administrator account, the explorer.exe just drops and doesn’t even leave an error message and boots back up. I have killed the process and restarted it again via task manager but it only starts with the same problems. If anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it!

Well pretty much overnight my computer has crashed and I have been unable to load any pages except black pages and blue pages.
I want to restore the factory settings on my Inspiron 531 Desktop (Vista). I followed the instructions on Dell’s website by pushing F8 at startup, and the Advanced Boot Options did appear, but "Repair your Computer" was not an option on that list. What now?
Incidentally, these are the options I was given:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable low-resolution video (640×480)
Last known Good Configuration (advanced)
Directory Services Restore Mode
Debugging Mode
Disable automatic restart on system failure
Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
Start Windows Normally
I have tried all these buttons but it simply leads to an all black page for hours and does absolutely nothing. I know that I need the recovery disks but I don’t believe my computer ever came with it. After looking on Dell’s Support page I have been unable to download any recovery disks and could not get help.
So does anyone have any Ideas/Advice/Help for my problem?
Before I take it down to my local computer guy, who will charge me an arm and a leg…..

I’m using Vista on a sony laptop. I recently bought it this year around April. Things started happening after I downloaded the the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (update). But when I restarted, my computer never fully boots. The booting stalls, than shuts down. Then I have to take out the battery to get my computer back on, after trying this a few times. I’ve tried starting up in Last Configuration (boot stalls forever, then fails after being exhausted) , I’ve tried bootin in safe mode the screen just stays the same in the with crapy numbers and stays that way. I was told just inserting the recovery disc, that it should instantly boot from the CD, but it doesn’t. I’ve notice that the computer maybe trying to boot from the hard drive. Which could explain why the booting options fail. What do you do to start booting from the optical Drive?
I was able to remove some files confirmed as trojans from my computer. I started it back up and as soon as I logged in it tryed to run a batch file and use the command "shutdown -r -t 60" I belive, so I aborted the shutdown and the computer worked perfectly. I shut it down later and when I started it up it gave me a page fault error caused by a driver I did not install. any way I need to install SP2 but I can’t start safe mode, or recovery console (somthing changed admin password), i’ve tried PEBUILDER boot disk but it wont start, any way to install it. I was thinking remotely.
I have been having serious issues with my computer, and recently had to do a recovery from my start up disks (luckily I had backed up all my files on DVD about a week earlier) but in trying to update my computer I have had some issues. Microsoft update screen tells me I need to update to service pack 3, but then when my computer restarts, it won’t boot up windows, I have to go in in safe mode and uninstall service pack 3 to get my computer to work again. I have done this several times now. Anyone else have this issue? What am I doing wrong? Do I really need this update?
When I power on my laptop the loading screen shows up but then goes to a screen that says windows error recovery. It gives me two options launch start up repair or start windows normally . I have tried both options multiple times and it both of them do not work. anyone know what to do?
I tried the f8 key and did safe mode and chose an earlier date where the computer was working fine but it went right back to the windows error recovery screen.

I have a toshiba satellite laptop. I have it for A/C adapter socket replacement. Since i got it back, i cannot run it in normal mode. It freezes in 5 min. I have to run it in safe mode. My service provider told me to run destructive recovery on the laptop. I have no idea how to do that, or whether its the correct solution. I have ran the standard recovery disk N number of times. No change.
I have window vista. Recently I had a problem and started with the monitor, it went to sleep, and did not want to wake up. I talked to 3 HP technicians, they all said something different. And I believed they also messed up my computer somehow. My computer is on safe mode, and could not be back to the default setting. I was told to install the recovery disk. Will that help? If anyone know,s please help.
I have a Sony Vaio, i’m sure it has a virus on it but I can’t repair it if I can’t restart it the computer. I tried going to safe mode and all it does is start all over again trying to reboot it’s self. The recovery disk is useless every-time it tries to recover or restore an error message pops up. I’m trying to hold off on going to the professionals hoping some of you guys can help, thanks!
