My computer freezes at the boot screen, the little blue bar just stops moving. I have left it alone like that for about an hour just to be sure it isn’t actually loading.

It will boot in safe mode. And I have tried it without the graphics card.
I have the XP install disk(not the recovery disk that came with the computer, i bought this one after i lost it).
It also wont start with last known configuration that worked mode.
I haven’t recently updated or installed new drivers.

The computer is a e-Machines t3065
I have XP with service pack 2.

Hey, I have a Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2. And I want to reset it to factory settings so that EVERYTHING is gone.. And what I mean is like when you first buy your computer, there is nothing downloaded besides what you start out with… Anyone know how I can do this? Also, my PC didn’t come with recovery disks’, and I was wondering if I can burn the recovery disk onto a CD. If you need any other questions, please Email me.

Thanks,
Danny

Hi, recently, I formatted my entire computer. It used to be a Windows Vista system, but I used an E-Machines recovery disk to use Windows XP. My computer isn’t an E-Machine computer, but Acer.

After formatting everything and installing XP, everything worked fine, except sound. My speakers used to work but now doesn’t. I have tried using just headphones and that doesn’t work either, which points to a computer problem. Then I looked, there isn’t even a volume control and when I tried to go to volume control a pop up says "no audio mixer is installed" or something to that effect.

I tried going to control panel but under sound and audio device, it says I have no device installed despite me having my speakers connected as usual. I tried going to Device Manager but it has a few things with a yellow question mark beside it such as "Ethernet Controller", and "PCI Device" (?).

Computer: Acer Aspire AST 180
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (from an E-Machines recovery disk)
Speakers: Insignia 2.0

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

My computer has Windows XP pro Service Pack 2. I want to wipe all the programs off of it. Every guide i look at says I need the program "Backup" under System Tools on the Start Menu. But it’s not there.

I can’t get the recovery disk, because those people at the Geek Squad want me to pay about 0 for it, so is there anyway I can DOWNLOAD it, put it on a floppy, and then use it?

I have a Dell inspiron i1545 laptop and i would like to create recovery disk/s the computer is using windows vista home premium Service pack 2 32 bit operating system. I would like to know what program to use to make the recovery disk. I have been looking at almost all the programs on the computer and the only thing that i see is the Backup and Restore application in the Backup and Restore center. Not for creating any sort of recovery disk. Any information is appreciated.

I have another computer A Hp compaq CQ60-615DX Laptop and i already created the recovery disks for the computer it only took 3 since i used a DVD+R so it took less disks to create. The thing is there was a program for me to use but i can’t find a Recovery Program for my dell computer in the list applications again any information is highly appreciated.

Ok, first let me say what happened. It was working fine before I reinstalled windows service pack 2 and the driver recovery disks, cause my computer got the blue screen of death. Now everything is working but the cd rom/dvd drive. I checked the properties of the drive d and it said that this device is working. But its not the only dvd that will play is the driver recovery disk. I even tried to play the recovery disk for windows and all it does is make a sound like it want to go a few times then stops. On the d drive in my computer doesn’t even say there is a disk in it. One time it said that my disk needed to be formatted. Please help me if you can I have been searching the internet for 3 weeks with no help. Thanks, Jen
I tried just now to turn off the computer with the windows recovery disk in it and push r to repair. It just does the same thing sound like it wants to go several times then just stops. No error message nothing.

Hi, we have our laptop SONY VAIO PCG-FR315S for 3 years, constantly having problems with it. The best solution we find is to reinstall system from recovery disc. After the last reinstallation and updating with service pack 2 we can’t use any hardware via usb (apart from mouse). The computer detects the hardware but can’t run with it; updating drivers doesn’t help; device manager still shows yellow exlamation mark. Could you help us? We don’t want to reinstall system again to get drivers work properly.

I dont know what i did but i tried to put a new operating system. Before it was Window XP Home edition - Service Pack 2.

Then, i tried to install another Window ( Window XP Professional - SP2) and it worked well but my laptop screen (LCD 1280×800 widescreen) is now 1024×768 non-widescreen. it might be due to lack of monitor driver (Radeon-ATI)

So that another way, i need a sony vaio system recovery disc (Sony Vaio is no longer supply it with thier product)

Please help me and tell me what i should do to get my laptop screen back to widescreen and all drivers that need for my Laptop!

My laptop also has wirless LAN but it wont detect it.

Thanks and all the help will help.

I also dont want to spend any money!!

When I click Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>"My Account">Prevent a
forgotten password an error message pops up that says:
No Drive
Your computer does not have a removable disk drive. A removable medium is
required to use this feature.

I though in order to create a password reset disk all you need is a blank cd
and a cd burner? My computer has that (Compaq Presario V2000). Since this
isnt working, is there another way to create a Password Reset Disk?
Much appreciation if any Answers!

P.S, My computers specs if needed:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Compaq
Presario V2000
***If I need a floppy disk than is there another way to create the recovery disk?***

I had to use HP recovery to rid my computer of a small virus. (It’s a long process but it works.) When it came back on things were wrong.

First: My speakers do not work. I’ve checked device manager and the connection but nothing.

Second, and this is the big one: I have to download Windows XP Service Pack 2, at least I think I do, to re-install my iTunes. But it won’t let me because I don’t seem to have enough space. When I try to click on Disk Cleanup, it won’t open. Sometimes it pops up when I try to download Windows XP SP2, but it won’t load. Someone help!
But you guys, The speakers didn’t come with the comp. Though they did work fine before I activated HP Recovery.

I just got a used Compaq Evo laptop running windows XP pro. It did NOT come with an OS cd or recovery cd. I do have XP Home recovery CDs for my Sony Vaio, but they dont seem to register with the Compaq.

I attempted to update from the vanilla xp pro to Service Pack 2, but towards the end of the install my computer crashed. Now when I try to boot it says "Non-system disk or disk error."

I do not have a cd in the drive or any usb devices attached. I do not have a floppy drive. I think the SP2 install messed up the Master Boot Record. I think I need to run Recovery Console but I do not have the Boot CD to get into it.

Does anybody have any advice or know where I can acquire an iso image of the windows xp pro boot cd or a bootable recovery console?

Thank you for your response.

I updated to Microsoft Service Pack 2, when I came home the next day my computer had restarted and said that there was no hard disk.

I tried the windows xp recovery and it couldn’t find any drives and then I tried to reinstall XP and it said there were no hard drives found!

so i have no computer now

What may have happened and is there a way to get it back?!
I have never ‘opened’ my computer and I live alone so Im sure no one else could have done this.

Dear Friend

I have purchased a Laptop; Brand: SAMSUNG, MODEL: R40
While purchasing, seller provided me 2 CDs. One for driver software and another is captioned as “Samsung Recovery Solution” “Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2”.

I have formatted C drive due to malfunctioning. Now my query, will that Recovery Disc install WinXP as usual?

Appreciate, if you would come back at your earliest.

Regards
Pervez

Im having problems with my current HD that my current version on XP Home is installed on.
I have a new HD in a box.
I went to Compaq site and saw they offered a recovery disc for my coputer XP service pack 2 for .
My main thing I was going to do is basically burn my important files on a disc, and then trash the old troublesome Hard Drive and get the recovery CD and Recover my system to the new Hard Drive.
Will that work?
Better yet, does everyone understand what Im trying to do?
I may have a worm or something, dont know why the hard drive is acting up, but I dont want to connect the new hard drive up when the old one is in there at the same time.

problem" pops up, but when I check it on my laptop, which is right behind me, it works fine. I lost everything on this one yesterday and had to start from square one by using a recovery disk. I updated with windows service pack 2 and other than that I don’t know what I should do to get it back to where it was before the virus shut it down.
Thanks for any info.

I have an acer laptop with Xp service pack 2 :( and it asks me for the kernel dlls.

I have a dell inspiron (#?). It’s getting rather old and started acting wonky so I reformatted it. I had no recovery disk so I used a copy of windows XP professional service pack 2 I got from school. Unfortunately it seems no less wonky. It does many things fine but the sound and directX control doesn’t work. It has a wireless card that also doesn’t work. I’ve loaded all the requisite drivers I can find but it didn’t solve its problems. i think I just need the original recovery disk but I don’t know were to find one. any suggestions? thank you.

I got my computer 3 or 4 years ago before that (SP2) upgrade. My computer crashed I needed to reformat/then reinstall, I used my product recovery disk, but it keeps asking me for the "service pack 2 for windows XP home edition" I don’t have it was sent to me via a download, I called my local computer guy, he said I can get one from Microsoft, but he didn’t have the number.

If anyone has an idea of what it is I’m talking about (I’m not quite sure myself) please any help would be greatly apreciated, I need to get it ASAP, I have a temporary computer but only for a few weeks. I’d like to get my other one going again.
I’m not looking to download it off the internet, because I needed it for a computer that is down. In other words I can’t get online to download it. (sorry frustrated)
I just need the phone number of where I can order it.
And if possible advice from someone who has done what I’m trying to do.

I bought this computer without disks. I was able to copy 7 Cd’s for recovery with this computer and the computer prompted me by saying that I could only do this "One" time. Can I use these disks without having Windows XP (service pack 1)??? I installed service pack 2 and am having alot of problems so I would like to start over.

i have the windows Xp service pack 2 CD. and i think its supposed to be able to let me make a backup/recovery disk, but i dont know what exactly im supposed to do to get the recovery disk working. i have all the office stuff already and i think i had a backup thing on my computer ( a toshiba) but i accidently deleted it.. thanks for your help
i have went to the start panel and went to tools but backup is not there..i think i might have deleted it..
i tried the second nt…exe thing..a message came up saying that it couldnt be found..
i actually called toshiba and the lady said that i would actually need to redo my whole hard drive or something of that nature…which means i will lose every thing i have on my computer except C drive stuff i believe…is there not a program out there that lets you just back up your own files, etc?

Ok i have a dell desktop with a “Windows XP Reinstallation CD” (w/ service pack 2) and i want to know if i can use it on a dell inspiron laptop. the laptop is having bluescreen errors at log in, so i want to do an XP repair install, can i use this cd even though it came with the desktop?

im worried about it have different drivers
