Hi, recently, I formatted my entire computer. It used to be a Windows Vista system, but I used an E-Machines recovery disk to use Windows XP. My computer isn’t an E-Machine computer, but Acer.

After formatting everything and installing XP, everything worked fine, except sound. My speakers used to work but now doesn’t. I have tried using just headphones and that doesn’t work either, which points to a computer problem. Then I looked, there isn’t even a volume control and when I tried to go to volume control a pop up says "no audio mixer is installed" or something to that effect.

I tried going to control panel but under sound and audio device, it says I have no device installed despite me having my speakers connected as usual. I tried going to Device Manager but it has a few things with a yellow question mark beside it such as "Ethernet Controller", and "PCI Device" (?).

Computer: Acer Aspire AST 180
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (from an E-Machines recovery disk)
Speakers: Insignia 2.0

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

When installing Windows XP (full version) onto my computer, I expected an option to create a Recovery CD to appear on my screen, but I never saw anything, or maybe I missed it. Either way, if in the future I need to do a complete reboot, how would I do it. Where can I get a Recovery CD from?
Thanks in advance to everyone who replies to this message.

Please Post only if you have any experience with the software.

Thanks in advance :)

I used to have a lot of photos on my computer that I deleted overtime. Now I want them back badly. Will recuva recover my photos from months ago? Is there a recovery program that will recover photo files from a year+ ago that I can preview the file before recovering it? (I had also had lots of files I do not want recovered. I just want my jpg digital camera photos that I took back, without using the memory card) Thanks in advance.

I own a Toshiba laptop, which, about 2 days ago, we used the product recovery program to restore it to factory settings, and we then re-installed everything.

After doing this, I have realised that we forgot to backup a load of files, and they have gone missing.

Those files just happen to be some of the most important files that we have.

Is there any hope of getting the files back? I would only like free software please.

Thanks in advance :)

I’ve recently accidentally deleted the entire contents of a fairly important .zip folder and found no way through browsing the internet to get the files back. I know there are programs out there which do this, but I can’t afford to buy one for one task and the trials don’t help at all.

Is there any way to do so without extreme extents? Thanks in advance.

I have an old Ibook and for some reason I can’t open my personal folder. Maybe because I put a file vault on it which makes it more difficult to retrieve. It’s not accepting my old password and it doesn’t allow me to assign a new password. Most data recovery specialists I called was asking me between 0-00. It’s just a personal computer. I was hoping I could find something like 0-0. Thanks in advance.

Hi, so iI was totally excited when I downloaded PC Inspector File Recovery, but the moment I attempted to use it to recover stupidly deleted files from my iPod it crashed!

It kept popping out error messages, that read like this:

Access violation at adress 00402B57 in module ‘filerecovery.exe’. Read of adress 0001DA05.

Can anyone help me solve it? Thanks in advance! :)
