after using a recovery disk..the same problem occurs. When I get the black Windows screen with the blue bar at the bottom..it goes to a blue screen for half a second (can’t read it)..and then the laptop restarts. I can sometimes get it to load up by selecting ‘last config that worked’ only when it lets me get the selection page…or if I press F12 to select my harddrive so that it will work.
This happens frequently..but sometimes i’m able to start my laptop up with no problem.
I’m considering sending it to the a service provider since it is still under warranty. But if there is a way to fix it myself..i will
I called the tech department and since it was out of warranty, all they could do was send me the recovery disks. I installed the recovery disk, then when I inserted the first of 5 disks to restore the devices/drivers, I got an error message stating:
error copying file D:\RECOVERY\BKD021A.IM2.Error 23ata error (cyclic
redundancy check).
;
My disks loaded, but I am missing lots of stuff - like sound, wireless capability, ability to play DVDs etc. I tried reloading it and now it just keeps recycling through the restoration cycle, but I cannot sign on to Windows. Can anyone help? I can’t believe that Lenovo doesn’t have better service than this.
My OS is Windows XP and the model number is 8922-2FU (3000 serious laptop) Hope this helps!
ok. I need to reinstall my OS (windows Vista 32-bit) but i do not have my recovery disc that Dell sent me when I purchased my laptop. My warranty has expired. What i am asking, is will Dell send my another disc? I have read forums that said if u call them, that sometimes they will and sometimes they wont. But i didnt know if an expired warranty made any difference. I have tried all options to fix my laptop, but I need to reinstall the OS. Any suggestions?
Here’s my story:
I have contacted HP several times by phone and email and nobody did ever gave me a solution. Windows Vista Home Premium –preloaded with my pavillion sg3420la–updated itself and that update damaged and erased the recovery partition. The pavillion was recently bought, december 13, 2008, I’m in Venezuela. I never believed I was going to get such bad customer service from HP. HP told me since my pc is under warranty and its valid they would send me the recovery disks at no cost. UPS was supposed to send the disks. I’m waiting for the disks since january 11. UPS leaved a message on my answering machine with a female voice that can’t be understanded. She gave me a phone number and it’s unclear what is the phone number. I tried to listen to it over 20 times with no avail. UPS doesn’t answer the phones. There aren’t any email addresses in the website for my country. Nobody seems to be there. How come it’s possible that nobody is on UPS at 10 am or 3 pm? It seems UPS it’s making fun of people and it’s disrespectful. The tracking number z5552401 it’s incorrect and I allways get a "not available" message on the UPS website. I’m really dissapointed and upset. I’m no longer waiting for the disk. I will never make a purchase from HP again, unless they give me a free printer or any other gift.
So………did hp customer service or treated you like garbage and seemed to make fun of you? Or did they were unhelpful?
i need to get a system recovery disc for a dell optiplex gx260 desktop computer.i spent an hour and a half being transferred from technical support,to sales, and being disconnected.i’ve tried talking to 10 different people and all they want to do is transfer me back and forth.i am pissed and frustrated,i know the computer is out of warranty and i am willing to pay for the disc.
I have a sony Vaio, which never came with an installation disk.
I just had to have my western digital hard drive replaced by warranty.
My vaio recovery disks will not work this time around due to a bigger hard drive, but they did originally in 2008.
Being told motherboard may be dead, but bios runs fine.
Where can I get a windows XP installation cd, as I have a valid key code on my laptop, but sony offers no free service
I was using my Acer Aspire 5100 today when all of a sudden it shut itself off. It is now displaying the message 0200 fixed disk failure 0. From what I understand, this means that my hard disk crashed. Thankfully, my computer is still under manufacturer’s warranty (I bought it on 6/09/07 and the warranty is for a year.) so I know that they will probably replace the hard disk. But I understand that all files and "software" are probably lost. Does this mean that they’ll send my computer back sans Windows Vista and all of the basic software that the computer came with? When I bought the laptop from Circuit City they didn’t give me any recovery disks so if I have it serviced and they have to replace the hard drive, am I screwed out of Windows Vista and the basic software that came with the computer? Or will they reload any software that originally came with the computer under my warranty? Any ideas?
I have bought Sony vaio - VGN-FS415B from UK 10 months back. I lost my warranty card as I was travelling a lot. Without this, I can not register my product with Vaio and without registering I can reach Support. I am in a dead lock.
1 month back, my vaio got crashed and forcfully I had to reformat the disk but I need to use my warranty facility to restore it back to factory condition. Another unfortuenate thing is I had not made recovery disk as well. Sony is the only stupid company whcichw ill not give us a recovery adisk ask users to preapre on their own.
Please understand my situation and help me to know from where I can get my vaio warranty number. On the laptop I could see only Service tag , SL Number and Windows License Key…but not warranty.

My computer was not running properly so I decided that it was time to use the recovery disk and restore it to original settings. However the disk does not work. It wiped everything off of my laptop and then doesnt let me reinstall anything so my computer wont even start. (I just took the disk out of the box tonight so I know it was damaged from the factory). Unfortunately my computer is a month past warranty so they want to charge me to talk to someone or to spend 0+ to send it in and get diagnosed + additional fee to fix it. No service centers in my state either and I cant figure out how to get it to reboot from the startup menu, its not f8 like normal. please help. thank you
I bought a Seagate external hard drive 4 months ago. I don’t even use it that much. I was going to move data from my pc to the drive and it suddenly stopped working. I have been trying to contact seagate and they’ll make you wait for hours and the websites warranty section is always down. Seagate offered mre 00 & 00 for them to recover my files. I am looking for a place where I could bring in my hard drive and recover my data.
